Critical Stance:2

The term dehumanization is described when someone doesn't show compassion to one another. In this section of the book "Night" the prisoners were so desperate for food and sleep that they would run over each other for that one loaf of bread. They would sleep on each other because they were so tired. The germans turned everyday human beings to animals. These events that were witnessed my 15 year old, Eliezer, changed his mindset toward the world and religion. He couldn't believe what he saw changing how he thought about god. He couldn't believe that god would let such cruel things happen to his own creation.

Critical Stance:

Wiesel set up that contrast because the germans limited the jews power. The germans took away the jews freedom. They limited their power by taking away anything of value. Without any type of freedom or way to over take the germans, the jews were helpless.

The Holocaust

The Holocaust was a destruction or slaughter on mass amounts of people. The holocaust started on January 30th, 1933 then stopped in May 8, 1945. In the year of 1933 the european jews at that time were many in number. Until the Nazi Germans persecuted and murdered millions of the their kind. By 1945 the nazi germans killed about two-thirds of the jews as part of the Final Solution. The final solution was a plan the germans used to kill the jews.
