Poam Final draft

A curious little mind
Raised with one parent
Protected and guarded
With a "little" disability
Waiting for the wonders of the ocean to appear

Hey dad! Maybe when I'm at school, i'll see a shark.
I highly doubt that.
Have you ever met a shark before?
No, and i don't plan to."

A curious little mind
who's heart's bigger than the ocean
his mind lives off of imagination
he is an innovator

Fear and curiosity took him away
He found himself in a new home
"I wanna go home. Does anybody know where my dad is?
Honey, your fathers probably back at the pet store"

Lonely and parentless
Friends are the closest thing to family
"From this point on you'll be known as sharkbait"
Known as something else
He discovers a newer him

Mid-quarter essay

The poem "Market Forecast" is about the english language being compared to the stock market. From "wisdom, grace, and beauty can be had three for a dollar, as they head for a recession." or "Beware of cheap imitations sold by the side of the road."

With todays technology rapidly improving in a short amount of time, our environment suffers from our mistakes. The line "The ongoing search for a fresh metaphor has caused concern among environmental activist", talks about how our community is always looking for the newest and freshest inventions but to the environment activist, this is a bad thing due to how damaged and polluted our world is. Relating to the poem, this creates an unbalanced habit for not only the animals and plants living in these areas but also the humans that surround these parts. With our oceans and forests being drowned by debris and pollution, expanding our range of technology would only make it worse.

"Adjectives continue their downward spiral, with adverbs likely to follow." A quote that really gives of the affect relating the english language to the stock market. With sales continuing decrease, the english language is slowly fading as well. The Romantic era was time where society had more freedom. Freedom leads to new ideas and when trends start to arise, the past culture starts to decay.

Not only is it easy to make money but falling in love has a completely different definition. "Diaphanous, filigree, pearlescent, and love are now available at wholesale prices". This quote from the poem relates to people spoiling someone just for them to "fall in love" with them. Showing the desperateness of people wanting affection from one another. Instead of being yourself and naturally falling for someone, they use money and jewelry to bribe or favor them.

The Market Forecast comes off as a poem with many different aspects applying to something that seems to relate to a certain topic but really The Market Forecast is simply an allusion. At first may seem confusing but if you relate certain key words, pieces of this puzzle could easily be shown by looking at the picture as a whole.
