Macbeth: Final Draft

Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a play about how a few people will do anything for power. Though the path they choose to pursue may have been more inhumane, they became narrow-minded to the thought of ruling Ireland.

In the beginning of the play, 3 witches told a prophecy of Macbeth becoming King. Since a few events turned out to be true for Macbeth, he felt that the witches prophecy would be true. With this, Macbeth wrote a letter his wife. Lady Macbeth seemed to be the "brain of the operation" or the person in charge of how they would fore fill the prophecy. In the beginning of the story, Macbeth writes a letter to his wife, Lady Macbeth, about the witches prophecy for him. Then, Lady Macbeth thinks to herself of how one would act toward this situation. This soliloquy she had, stated of how one would not do bad but would for another reason.

Toward the middle of the play, things started to sorta get out of control and some mentalities start to change when "things start to get real".  Macbeth and Lady Macbeth start to change personalities. Macbeth starts to care more about the power and becoming King but Lady Macbeth starts to worry more because of how out of control and demented Macbeth was becoming. As more and more people were being killed, killing more people seemed to be the only solution for Macbeth. This worried Lady Macbeth because killing so much people wasn't how she imagined the plan. But due Macbeth's sudden change of personality, Lady Macbeth's personality changed as well.

Though things didn't turn out as planned, Macbeth felt that becoming king was in his grasp. Killing off nearly everyone next to the throne or people that he felt knew he was the caused of all the murders. This lead to Macduff killing Macbeth. Macbeth's personality became more selfish and ignorant toward the end due to the witches prophecy and sayings. With the witch confessing that Macbeth could not die from a man born from a women, this made Macbeth's feel invisible. But his ego is what got him killed. With the confidence of him not being able to die, he felt he could take on Macduff and defeat his army. Only leading Macbeth to his death.

In conclusion, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth could have succeed but due to their narrow mind in the situations that they were put in, they prepared for the best instead of the worst. Causing them to be blinded of the bad that could happen.

Poam Final draft

A curious little mind
Raised with one parent
Protected and guarded
With a "little" disability
Waiting for the wonders of the ocean to appear

Hey dad! Maybe when I'm at school, i'll see a shark.
I highly doubt that.
Have you ever met a shark before?
No, and i don't plan to."

A curious little mind
who's heart's bigger than the ocean
his mind lives off of imagination
he is an innovator

Fear and curiosity took him away
He found himself in a new home
"I wanna go home. Does anybody know where my dad is?
Honey, your fathers probably back at the pet store"

Lonely and parentless
Friends are the closest thing to family
"From this point on you'll be known as sharkbait"
Known as something else
He discovers a newer him

Mid-quarter essay

The poem "Market Forecast" is about the english language being compared to the stock market. From "wisdom, grace, and beauty can be had three for a dollar, as they head for a recession." or "Beware of cheap imitations sold by the side of the road."

With todays technology rapidly improving in a short amount of time, our environment suffers from our mistakes. The line "The ongoing search for a fresh metaphor has caused concern among environmental activist", talks about how our community is always looking for the newest and freshest inventions but to the environment activist, this is a bad thing due to how damaged and polluted our world is. Relating to the poem, this creates an unbalanced habit for not only the animals and plants living in these areas but also the humans that surround these parts. With our oceans and forests being drowned by debris and pollution, expanding our range of technology would only make it worse.

"Adjectives continue their downward spiral, with adverbs likely to follow." A quote that really gives of the affect relating the english language to the stock market. With sales continuing decrease, the english language is slowly fading as well. The Romantic era was time where society had more freedom. Freedom leads to new ideas and when trends start to arise, the past culture starts to decay.

Not only is it easy to make money but falling in love has a completely different definition. "Diaphanous, filigree, pearlescent, and love are now available at wholesale prices". This quote from the poem relates to people spoiling someone just for them to "fall in love" with them. Showing the desperateness of people wanting affection from one another. Instead of being yourself and naturally falling for someone, they use money and jewelry to bribe or favor them.

The Market Forecast comes off as a poem with many different aspects applying to something that seems to relate to a certain topic but really The Market Forecast is simply an allusion. At first may seem confusing but if you relate certain key words, pieces of this puzzle could easily be shown by looking at the picture as a whole.

Critical Stance:2

The term dehumanization is described when someone doesn't show compassion to one another. In this section of the book "Night" the prisoners were so desperate for food and sleep that they would run over each other for that one loaf of bread. They would sleep on each other because they were so tired. The germans turned everyday human beings to animals. These events that were witnessed my 15 year old, Eliezer, changed his mindset toward the world and religion. He couldn't believe what he saw changing how he thought about god. He couldn't believe that god would let such cruel things happen to his own creation.

Critical Stance:

Wiesel set up that contrast because the germans limited the jews power. The germans took away the jews freedom. They limited their power by taking away anything of value. Without any type of freedom or way to over take the germans, the jews were helpless.

The Holocaust

The Holocaust was a destruction or slaughter on mass amounts of people. The holocaust started on January 30th, 1933 then stopped in May 8, 1945. In the year of 1933 the european jews at that time were many in number. Until the Nazi Germans persecuted and murdered millions of the their kind. By 1945 the nazi germans killed about two-thirds of the jews as part of the Final Solution. The final solution was a plan the germans used to kill the jews.

Angry Letter Rough Draft

Dear Hawaii's Board of Education,

Though adding a 7th period to every Hawaii public high school, could improve a students cumulative grade point average, better preparation for life after highschool, etc. Adding another period could put more stress on the students.

With Moanalua High School ranking 3rd in the state, adding another period could put more stress on the students and cause them to slack. Moanalua, having the most students participating in a OIA sport, their stress could affect how they play and perform.  According to teenhelp.com, 78% of teens are stressed because of school work. Not only will this excess amount of stress affect the students mentally but also socially, emotionally, and physically.

High School sets the rode for the rest of a teenagers life and if a teen is struggling and stressing because of the overload of work, it could affect the future of these teens. Stress will make teens less capable of doing anything, from writing a sentence for an essay to throwing a ball in their P.E. class. Lowering their capablilities could affect how much potential students could show to collages, jobs, etc.

High School is meant to lead students not only into their adult life but also the road into finding themselves but with stress, it could be act as an obstacle and slow them down. We only live life once so why would we want any obstacles slowing us down.

Sincerely,
Kainoa Mattos-Felicilda

Risky Business Final

From clothes to music choice, teens are forced into a storm to find themselves. Their are faced with the nightmare of not being accepted my the thousands of genres this world has to offer, thus making this storm more worst than it already is.

Peer pressure paves the road to adult life. According to Wall Street Journal, " Teens are more often to follow other teens because their brains derive more from social acceptance than adults. " As a teenager, fitting in is the main goal. Leading teens into doing drugs and alcohol. With 74% of highschool students drinking alcohol and over 3.1 million teens smoking, peer pressure is also not only risking their future but their lives as well. Like a maze, teens usually make the wrong turn.

Just like everything in life, peer pressure has it negative sides and also positive. Peer pressure can also develop good habits. " If peers value doing well in school or excelling in sports, for instance, it might encourage kids to study or train harder " says Wall Street Journal. With the influence of teens peers, it can push them to improve and excel in school and sports. With the positive pressure, teens are open to an opinion to being one step closer to finding themselves, finding what they enjoy and don't.

Peer pressure is an asset of becoming of age, a transformation from child to adult, from a cocoon to a butterfly. Peer pressure is a way of seeing into yourself. How you take in the pressure tells/shows you who you are, and that feeling you get is what makes you different from everyone else. How you deal with the situation tells you who you are. Negative or positive, the choice you make leads you closer toward the end of the maze, the rainbow after the storm, and next thing you know you'll be spreading your colorful wings.

Collage Essay

Throughout high school i've incorporated surfing with my work. Being in the Menemac program, it made incorporating the ocean and school work easier. I've also done a couple sports during high school as well. Participating in other school activities also enhanced my responsibility during high school. High school has helped me mature and focus on what i want in life.
The Menemac program is a media program that incorporates school work with media. We present projects in a video, slideshow, or picture. The Menemac program is a two year course. Instead of having a regular social studies, english, and science class, we have special classes that incorporates media. This made it easy to combine both the ocean and school work. I was able to find examples though the ocean and show it in my projects.
During high school, i played a couple of sports. I wrestled during my freshman year and then played football for my junior and senior year. These sports taught me about dedication and responsibility. The two traits are essential for life after high school, without them life would be more difficult and challenging.

It was our annuel "adventure night". My friends and I go wondering into random places and have a adventure. As we were going down this suspicious rode. As we went followed this rode, we came upon what seemed to be abandoned house. While walking into the house we noticed that the walls turned into a green like texture. The suddenly the door slammed shut. Startled, I started screaming, then a voice said "Silence! you are trespassing on the holy ones ground" Then it appeared.. A sloth. This sloth wasn't a ordinary sloth, it had a lustrous gold with a majestic wond. It then said "Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding" Everyone blacked out... We woke up wobbled and woozy. We were all sloths

It was 6 am in the morning and my dad woke me up. He made my breakfast and wanted me to hurry up. I was too lazy to get up and so i chose to stay in bed and not listen to him. Then 10 minutes later i see my dad with water in his hands just sprinkling it all over my face. But i still wouldn't listen to him and tried to go back to sleep. This time my dad dragged me off the bed and carried me to the table and tried to make me eat my breakfast. I was very angry with him that morning because it was too early in the morning for me and i was so tired. Trying to keep my head up i used my arm as a stand for my head to rest on. Feeling annoyed by my dad taking a picture i was silent and decided to not eat the cereal he made.

Coming of Age Final

I usually get the question “Kainoa, how are you so happy?” I could never really answer that question because the story was too long to tell. But as a child I always looked up to my older sister, Kiana. Kiana was always the person that stood out. Everything she did in life, she had everyone’s attention. Being her brother, I did everything she did basketball, baseball, etc. Since I never had really had a “father figure” I used her. Mainly because she was more of a boy then a girl when we were younger. She was a tough aggressive player, making her stand out. I used her as role model because I wanted the same attention. But being the person I was, I was usually pushed off to the side. I was the person that everyone criticized and forgot about. I mentally felt alone.
I was felt like this my entire life but I never told anyone. I didn’t want people to feel sorry for me. I questioned myself  “What am I doing wrong?” “Why can’t people treat me like her?” These questions were never answered until the day I stopped caring. When I entered the 7th grade, I met a woman who changed my life. Her name was Kumu Hina. She was my hula/Hawaiian teacher. One of the main things she said to us before we danced or chanted was “don’t care about what other people think of you” She couldn’t stress this enough. Throughout middle school she taught me not care what other people think.  She showed me a door into my life. I was no longer trying to be like Kiana. Not only did I find myself but also I became a better person. I learned to see the perspective of different people. This trait allowed me to find the positive from every situation, especially my past.
When you find yourself, you also find your passion. Mine was surfing. I didn’t need people’s attention and I didn’t care what people said about me. I did it purely out of love. I woke up at 6 every morning just to surf. When you’re alone in the water, you start to notice more than just the waves. You start to observe everything from the tides to what lies underneath yourself. This trait carried on to my daily routine. I noticed a lot of little things about people, the negative and positive. I could tell when someone’s being serious or if I’m taking a joke to far. I taught myself about limits. When I should say something or if I should keep my mouth shut.
High school was when I finally got the attention I always wanted. But by then, I didn’t want it. I was accompanied by loneliness for to long. That feeling of being independent sunk in to my skin and I didn’t know how to handle the attention. I was used to doing everything by myself. But when the new traits kicked in, I realized that all I needed to be was humble and take the help if I needed it.
All these different periods in my life showed me that there is always something good in a depressing situation. The way you find it is completely how you handle it. You could cry and ask why or you can search for the good and just be ok with what has happen. I was able to learn to balance to good and the bad, Now that I’ve learned to do this, life is easier and I couldn’t be happier.
