Root's and Recipes Brain Storm

The food that I chose for Root's and Recipe's is Poi. Poi is a very interesting because of the story behind it and that it also never spoils. Some of the memories I have with poi , was the first time i made it. I made it just like how my ancestors did years ago. I made paiai , it's something like poi but less water. The story of poi first comes from the kalo (taro). The story of Kalo was that long ago the sky father (Wakea) and Earth Mother (Papahānaumoku) made a baby (haloa). The baby was a miscarriage , so they planted him behind their house. Wakea and Papa made another child and named him after the older sibling. The buried child turned into kalo. Haloa farmed him. Thats the story of kalo.
The person i'll be interveiwing will be my grandpa.

  1. I like how you incorporated the story of kalo into your post. The history behind the ingredients may be a good way to hook your readers. As a suggestion, you could be a tad more descriptive and describe how it felt to make the poi and how it tasted; maybe what importance it has to you. Everything else is epic :D

  2. One thing that I liked about your blog is the way that you told the history of your dish . One flaw of your blog though is it is missing question #3 . Overall I think that your blog is really well thought out .

  3. Your post was very well written. I like how you chose a food with a story behind it. Although, the story was good how does it relate to you and your family? Its already sounding like a good project though!

  4. It's cool how you know so much about the poi and the stories/meanings behind. Very creative. You could describe the poi a little bit more by using specific words that describes the poi, while using the "5 senses" to make it more appetizing. I honestly hate poi, but if you could make a reader change its view towards the poi, then that's when you know you wrote a VERY good story. Can't wait to see the whole thing! :)
